Physiotherapy
Our physiotherapy service is provided by registered physiotherapists, offering assessment and treatment for musculoskeletal pain, post-operative rehabilitation and chronic pain. Below are two common treatments: auto traction bed therapy for low back pain, and knee physiotherapy.
Low Back Pain Physiotherapy with Auto Traction Bed
What is an auto traction bed?
An auto traction bed is a computer-controlled traction device that applies a gentle, controlled stretching force to the lumbar spine. It helps decompress spinal structures, reduce pressure on discs and nerves, relieve muscle spasm, improve spinal mobility and reduce pain.
The physiotherapist adjusts the traction force, duration and pattern according to the patient's condition. Sessions usually last 15 to 30 minutes, and a course may involve 6 to 12 sessions depending on the condition.
Who may benefit
- Mechanical low back pain
- Disc-related pain (for example, disc bulge or herniation)
- Sciatica or nerve-related leg pain
- Muscle spasm or stiffness
- Chronic low back pain, where clinically appropriate
Auto traction is not suitable for everyone. If you have an acute fracture, spinal instability, severe osteoporosis, spinal infection or tumour, are pregnant, or have had recent spinal surgery, please consult a doctor first.
Knee Physiotherapy
When is knee physiotherapy useful?
Knee physiotherapy is useful for a range of knee problems, including knee osteoarthritis, sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and chronic knee pain. The physiotherapist will assess you first and then design a personalised treatment plan.
Common treatment methods
- Manual therapy and joint mobilisation
- Strengthening and stretching exercises
- Balance and gait training
- Electrotherapy, ultrasound or hot and cold therapy
- Home exercise programme and self-management advice
Common knee problems
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Anterior cruciate ligament or meniscus injury
- Patellofemoral pain syndrome
- Post-operative knee rehabilitation (for example, total knee replacement)
- Sports injuries and repetitive strain
Knee pain has many causes, and the treatment plan is adjusted to each individual. If you have severe swelling, deformity, inability to bear weight or persistent pain, please seek medical attention promptly.
